It’s June 10th – officially known as World Wide Knit in Public Day
Who needs an official day to knit in public? Not me! And from what I’ve seen over the years many of us knitters need no invitation. (this was a perfect knit space a few years back… Turks and Caicos… highly recommend it)
But what a fun concept to create a world wide event! How often can we say we took part in something at such a grand scale.
Have Project Bag, Will Travel
I keep my projects in fun bags. I’m sure you’ve got some of these too. They’re excellent deterrents for tiny people and animals that may find your yarn irresistible to tangle and spread across the room.
Keeping my knits in bags makes it really easy to grab and go. If I’m going to be sitting or waiting somewhere, I grab a bag. Or if I’m traveling, I’ll pack maybe three bags. One for on-the-way, one for while I’m there, and an extra… just in case.
Knit Anywhere – As much as you want
The whole idea is… knit anywhere you want, anytime you want, and as much (or little) as you want.
A big part of my love of knitting is that it’s calming and relaxing. It’s also incredibly fun whether you sit down and knit solid for hours, or if you’re picking it up and putting it down throughout the day.
I’ve knit in sooo many places, I couldn’t possibly list them all. A couple favorites are in the airport (the wait is much more bearable and never feels as long) and at the beach. I know the beach is a controversial choice. I’ve heard horror stories of sand in the yarn, but it’s never been an issue for me. I wouldn’t recommend working on a blanket, but a pair of socks or a hat… perfection!
