The best time to plan new projects is when you’ve already got a list of them waiting, right?!
Apparently the bitter cold of January this year got me thinking I definitely need more projects queued up and ready to go. Sounds like a rational, reasonable excuse to do some yarn shopping.
I have this great trepidation that sets in about 3/4 of the way through a project where I panic thinking what am I going to knit once this is done. Anyone else slow down near the finish because of this? It might just be me, but surely there have to be more “oh no, what’s next” knitters out there…
All in all, I have found the magic number for my greatest knitty happiness is: 3 projects on the needles at a time, and 3 projects ready to be cast on next. Clearly this is the bare minimum number, friends, not a maximum!
So while I have 2 sweaters and a hat on my needles right now, I hope to have 2 of those 3 projects done by the end of the month – yeah, 4 days from now… you see why I needed yarn and project plans.
Yarn for Project: Mini-Man Cardigan
This beauty is Madelinetosh Dk in color Life On Mars. How great is that color name!
I’m planning to knit up a fancy looking cable cardigan and was really undecided about the color I wanted it to be, but then this lovely orangish brownish yarn found it’s way to me and the name sort of sealed the deal. It will be a 1st birthday gift for a tiny little man. Of course he will look like a tiny old man in it, but that’s the entire idea!
Yarn for Project: Mini-Man Pullover
This one is Madelinetosh DK in color Plaid Blanket. Another fabulous colorway name, I think.
Plaid Blanket was a definite contender for the cardigan, and perhaps I’ll change my mind when it gets here. Right now the plan is for an everday-is-adventure play-day kind of sweater.
Mostly, I just love the color and wanted a reason to order it and see it on my needles!
Yarn for Project: New Baby Snuggle Sweater
This gorgeous pink is Malabrigo Rios in color Almond Blossom. Somehow the color actually looks soft.
If you’ve been on my site before, you know how much I enjoy knitting for tiny humans. The newest arrival in the family will be a sweet little girl. Naturally I had to stock up on some yarn for some girly projects. Most of the tiny humans I get to knit for have been boys. Lots of boys! So this is a fun change.
Yarn for Project: Oodles of Baby Socks
I ordered something like 14 or 16 mini skeins for some Tiny Toes Baby Socks! It’s been a few months since I knit a pair and I’m ridiculously excited about casting a bunch more of these on. If you haven’t knit these before, you can find the pattern here.
Mini skeins are so much fun, don’t you agree? My stash of mini’s and leftovers had literally zero pink options. A problem that has now been solved. As soon as they arrive, I’ll share some photos.
An additional note:
I purchased all of these yarns from Simply Sock Yarn Company. They had all the colors I was looking for and when their site says “in stock” they actually mean it – I didn’t want an “oops, it’ll be 8 weeks” kind of moment with this order 🙂
