Simple knit stitches create an elegant design in my latest pattern release, the Gelato Mitts!
I’m so excited to share this pattern with you all! I love finding simple ways to create gorgeous, squishy designs. Fingerless mitts are one of my favorite things to knit. They’re perfect for a relaxing evening project and just so functional and practical to wear. They’re definitely one of the best gift-knits since hand size is not as tricky as other items can be.
Beginner Knitters, Welcome
Beginner knitters that want to explore the adventures of gussets and thumbs, this pattern is perfect for you! As long as you have the skills to Knit, Purl and Yarn Over, you’ll be able to knit a pair of Gelato Mitts.
Details
I love the refined look of an I-Cord bind off for my mitts, as you can see in my Cottage Mitts design. I talk about it more here. With the Gelato Mitts design, the same bind off curves along the lines of your fingers and is centered over the middle finger for some added elegance. It looks beautiful and impressive, doesn’t it? And it couldn’t be easier to do!
Yarn
The yarn I used for this pair was Regia Premium Merino Yak in color 7513, Mint Meliert. It’s a gorgeous wool yarn and is perfect to show stitch definition. The Gelato Mitts are knit with a 2.5mm needle, of course I used my favorite method of MagicLoop for working in the round. The pair of mitts uses about 36g of any fingering weight yarn, so a couple mini skeins or some sock leftovers would work.
Pattern
As with all my patterns, I write all instructions out in detail with helpful guides so you don’t lose your way. There are also some tips and tricks to make neat joins. Making a left hand and a right hand takes some magic so everything lines up properly. The Gelato Mitts pattern includes separate sections with full instructions for each hand. I always try and make it as simple and enjoyable as possible! Knitting should be fun, right?!
Convinced you need to get a pair of Gelato Mitts on the needles right away? I don’t blame you… click here to make yourself a pair. I highly recommend you enjoy a cup of Gelato when they’re done.
Happy Knitting!
