Yep, I’m knitting tiny pink things!
I’ve knit many, many tiny boy items and now have a reason to add some pink to the mix.
This simple little raglan sweater has a couple cables down the arm. Mostly because cables are fun and look a bit fancy. I re-worked the neck 3 times before I found the stretch (and suck back in) that I wanted. Fun challenge making a pullover to fit a newborn head and not fall off the shoulders… which (for obvious reasons) are pretty much the same width!
And, of course, a matching little pink hat is necessary 😊
I really like a cuffed brim on a knit cap, but not for newborns. So mini rib it is, with a little knot on top. Anyone else remember those generic blue/white/pink striped knot-top hats the hospital gave out? Well, that was the inspiration for this. Only in a much sweeter and softer version.
The patterns were improvised, but I’m willing to share if anyone is interested. Let me know if you want details, or if you’re just enjoying the photos!
Both the pullover and the hat were knit with Malabrigo Rios yarn, color Almond Blossom. I found it here.
Of course there are socks…
I have no words! I mean, come on… pink is more fun than I knew it to be. In fact, I have about 40 more mini skeins in my collection now, all of which have pink in them. Who knew… well, apparently everyone else knew and I’m late to the party. Just a heads up, expect a bit more pink in my knits collection in the near future, and not just for tiny people.
Contrast heels in tiny version? Yes, please! These were all knit with Emma’s Yarn Sock Minis that I got here.
The 2 cuffed socks are my Tiny Toes Baby Socks pattern found here. The lace version is my Sweet Tea Socks pattern worked into the same stitch count as the Tiny Toes Baby Socks.
Cashmere Cardigan
Every new arrival deserves a bit of fanciness. I had a spare skein of MCN (merino, cashmere, nylon) yarn in my undyed stash and it felt destined for a special little one.
I wish you could feel how super squishy and soft it is. It’s the kind of sweater that makes you want to hold the baby just to feel the softness on your hands!
I added 3 tiny buttonholes from the neck to mid chest. I just haven’t found the right buttons yet. Maybe little pearl ones, or opalescent, or wood? I’m just not sure. I figure just one or two will actually be used, but the right buttons will complete the look.

Hi Louise,
Thanks for asking. I’ve had a few requests via email as well. Look for the pattern in a separate post soon!
